Joinery
Handmade furniture is only as good as the joinery that holds it together. It is the reason antiques have lasted for years and modern production furniture does not. Joinery illustrates strength and beauty in utility and defines a craftsman's true abilities.
This is the reason why traditional hand cut joinery has been a focus of my work since I started designing and building furniture.
All of my furniture is constructed with real live joinery, whether it is a mortise and tenon, dovetails or something complex like a triple miter joint, all joints are dialed in and executed to exacting standards. Creating a strength and additional design element that is many times absent in others work.
How is your furniture constructed?
If you are considering handmade it is a question you should be asking.
